Heat Cancellation Policy (Owen Sound Minor Soccer)

PrintHeat Cancellation Policy
OSMSA Heat Cancellation Policy
  • Owen Sound Minor Soccer Association does not have an official policy in place for cancelling games because of heat.  It is recommended that games be played in the evening (after 6 pm) during extreme heat days and all house league games are played after this time.
  •  The OSMSA President has the authority to cancel games in extreme heat conditions but 30 C is not considered extreme heat. Most games in July & August would be cancelled in that case. The President will make the decision if it is too hot to play soccer.
  • If you feel that it is dangerous for your child to play due to heat conditions then do not bring your child(ren) to the game.  OSMSA will leave it up to the parents’ discretion and you will not be penalized for making this decision.  Make your child’s health the priority.
  • It is OSMSA’s recommendation that plenty of water be brought for all games and especially those played in extreme heat conditions. We also recommend that water breaks are taken and the referee can be asked before the game to allow this as well as frequent substitutions made so players don’t get overheated and exhausted.  Make sure your children and players have sun block on.
  • The summer will bring hot conditions so please protect yourself and most importantly, your children, from the heat and sun when outside.
